I was just wondering if the fact about hydrocodone being converted to hydromorphone is really true??I also would like all of my friends on here to know that oxycodone is the devils drug and that I wouldn't reccommend it to any one other than CANCER patients.Who are on their death beds.It is ADDICTING as HELL and after taking it for 6 months +.I can say with confidence that it is just as addicting if not more addicting as marijuana was for me.I am now back on lortab(or vicoden)they changed the name due to the bad rep years ago but any way.So yea I am on Lortab 10's 2 times a day with the option of splitting them in half.Any general feedback would be appreciated!!:)
Hydrocodone 10mg every 6 hours!Does anyone think that this is any safer than oxycodone every 6 hrs?

I hate to hear that. My doctor just put me on oxycodone 15mg because the hydrocodones weren't strong enough. The oxycodone is working fine for me, & don't watch the clock or need more than prescribed etc..It was my understanding that they are about the same thing except the oxy doesn't have the tylenol in it.

Hi, I am not sure any Narcotic Pain med is safer than another, this is my opinion. What my Doctor or any Doctor I assume is trying to help their patient be more comfortable during the time of recovery or example for me I need to maintain a 24/7 level that makes my life liveable. I was on Oxycodone 10mg/325 for 2 months and I could not stand the dizziness I got from this drug even though I take OxyContin 80mg twice daily. The short acting med did not agree even if I would cut it in half, take only 1 per day etc, it is a battle for me to find something that helps the pain but also allows my life to be stable for my 2 kids.
I do take 10mg/325 Lortab and prefer this pain med for my breakthrough pain, I can fuction on it. I am sure that if you feel one drug is a danger to you and you change to another to help your pain then you are a step in the right direction, I give you applause for reconizing you felt the addication heavy, and knew to talk to your doctor some can't do this or simply will not. I wish you the best of luck... God Bless, LoveBug
Thanks guys all this is positive stuff.
I know I am commenting twice but your feedback is so how I felt about the whole oxy situation and you are dead on about everything you wrote. Thanks once again!!

They can both be equally addictive, really. If you tend to have an addictive personality then you probably should be under the care of an addiction specialist who deals with addiction along with pain management. A person with an addictive personality should still have their pain managed, they just need more frequent observation by someone qualified to realize when they are getting into trouble. Marijuana, for instance, is not truly physically addictive. It is only psychologically addictive. So if you have had trouble with being addicted to marijuana it is fairly safe to say you have an addictive personality. I have been on Oxycodone for 8 years and have only increased my dose one time about two years ago. I dont take more than I should and I take them for pain relief. Am I physically dependent-yes. Do I have a substance misuse problem-no. Many people do just fine on very addictive meds without being a substance misuser.
Here is another good one:

That's true!!I think I just got a little carried away the other day talking about oxycodone. That I forgot to mention they were both narcotics lol!!! Thanks though for being so cool and not just calling me a drug addict like some people on here do.:)
Hi eclipse!!:)How have you been??I have been trying so many medications lately.I can hardly keep track.Bad I know but that's how pain management therapy goes!!I am glad to see that you agree with me on the oxy concept. The main thing with oxy's for me was that it gave me insomnia and never lasted more than 1 or 2 hours ATM.So that was an immediate RED FLAG for me!!

I have never taken oxycodone but I am prescribed Lortab 7.5 3xs a day and I wish I never would've started taking them. I'm addicted to them and am in the process of trying to get off of them. And anyone I have ever known to take them have gotten addicted. I can ONLY imagine what oxycodone do to people, I'm sure it's even worse. As far as the lortab being "safer" I do not know but I would agree they aren't "as" addicting. But I can tell you the withdrawals stopping lortabs are bad as well.
