I get random drug screens at work. Do I need to worry? What about how long it stays in the blood? I may have on going blood work from my doctor and I rather not look like any more of an idiot face to face :( I would appreciate any help
My husband accidentally gave me his mom's methadone instead of my percocet(kidney stones)?

Methadone does last much longer than short acting opiates in urine and blood. If you just took it once, it may be gone in a week, pray you don't get a random UA for at least 2 weeks, don't go for blood work for that long either. It depends on how sensitive the UA is, if it is mailed to a lab, it is going to find it even in small amounts until it metabolizes out. Patti

You should not need to worry unless they are testing for methadone specifically. It should be out of your system to undetectable levels in 5 days. You will be safe for a drug test after one week. I have been on methadone for many years and taken countless drug tests. I have even had them come back with no methadone and I take 120mgs a day!

If u only took it once u should be ok in 3-7 days, but it does have a 24 hr half-life... also please be careful if u substitute methadone for percocet in the future, it is much stronger, so don't try to match your percocet dose with the same dose of methadone, it could be dangerous. I have a friend who takes loritab and percocet all the time, took 20mgs of methadone and was completely passed out...

You should be ok like everyone else that posted said! But I don't understand how this even happened, Methadone and Percocet look nothing alike... you can avoid this in the future if you get your own medicine and if not make sure that your husband READS the labels before he even opens the bottles. There are ways of avoiding this type of mistake! Thank God you aren't allergic to Methadone... that mistake could have cost you your life...
