How to compare the effect of Fosamax and Boniva? Which one is better in prevention of oesteoporosis?

Both belong to the same class of medicine, bisphosphonates, so should work the same. However, everyone is different and may have different experiences/side effects on these two medicines.

My doctor told me that Boniva works best for the spine and not below the waist like for the hips. He said Foxamx covers both areas the best.
