I've heard that eivir will soon go off patent.

Clinicalpharmacology's patent report shows patents ending as soon as 7/2/2013 and as late as 9/20/2018
So at the earliest mid 2013, but this also gives plenty of time for the makers to come up with new indications and new patents, or sue to extend patents.
It very hard to truely know becuase there are many loopholes used to estend the patents.
