I have terrible sleep issues that may be related to fibromyalgia. I just read an article on fibro and it seems to be the only thing that carries a possible genetic link. My mom (86), me/male (59), and my youngest son (12) all have major league sleep issues. It skipped my oldest son (16). The article, "Losing Sleep over Fibromyalgia" at www.lifescript.com pointed out the possible genetic link and the sleep-related issues. Sleep issues are more apparent than pain issues typically noted with FBM. Also, just read here that L-Tryptophan may interfere with FBM. Any thoughts?
How much should be taken daily for sleep and has anyone noticed weight gain using L-Tryptophan?

Most folks w/fibromyalgia experience sleep deprivation and that contributes to pain that contributes spleep depr... bla bla bla you get my drift, and the frightening cycle continues. The best way to break this cycle is exercise, and I know what you are thinking, R U Crazy? U dont think U can exercise with as much pain as you hv and as tired as U R but if you would just give it a chance, low impact stuff..swimming at the ymca, light walking in the evenings, these things will release endorphins (feel good stuff in your brain) I know U dont believe this stufff, but if U R like me, and I think u may be, this is all you have left to try and belieive me it really dose work! Within 4-6 days you will start sleeping better and 7-10 days the pain starts getting better. I hope you give this a try and pray you get a good nights sleep!

have your dr. send you for a sleep study. I couldnt take it anymore so i went for the study and i have alpha sleep disorder which i found out is common in people with fibromyalgia. Basically it means you're not really sleepingThen get a referal for a sleep specialist and he/she can begin treating you. good luck
