I have been on Boniva for 5 years and my Dr. said I am no longer "Osteoporosiss" but has not taken me off. Also said I do not need to have the bone scan done every year, but every other year. The Dr. who original prescribed said you should not take more than 5 years.

I have researched your question but could not find an answer. Clinical studies have involved patients taking Boniva for 3 years. I would check again with your doctor if he/she thinks it is safe for you to continue taking Boniva.
