Most opiate stay pain relieving for about 4 to 8 hours ( unless it is specifically designed to last longer) but can be detected in the urine for up to 8 days later, although most will test clean in 3 to 5 days. It depends upon the persons ability to metabolize it quickly. If the person was not used to morphine, yes, they would probably be wobbly and groggy the next morning.
