im just starting portia today, my period usually lasts for about 5 days, but since the portia placebo pills last a given for a whole week... does this mean that i will now have my period for that WHOLE week?

No, not necessarily.
Your period should start 2 to 3 days after starting the placebo pills. It is difficult to predict how long your period will last for as everyone responds differently. It may take three cycles or so for your body to adjust to the hormones and during this time your menstrual patterns may vary.
