I realize this answer is a bit late and hopefully your condition has resolved by now. It is very difficult to say how long it will take for an infection to clear. Most times your doctor will see the infection and decide on a course of antibiotics and if after that course finishes and the infection hasn't cleared they will most likely give another course of antibiotics. They may even decide to change the anitbiotic.
