The mean plasma elimination half-life of Xanax is reported to be 11.2 hours. The full range is from 6.3 to 26.9 hours in healthy adults.
For a drug to be totally eliminated from your system it takes 5.5 times the half life.
If we take the maximum time of 26.9 hours times 5.5, it will be in your system for approximately 148 hours i.e. 6 days, after your final dose.

Sorry, I understand and appreciate the half life information. However, xanax is a benzo that carries a very low concentration post normal half life which can take quite some time to leave your system, especially based on urine testing. I have personal experience with taking just one 2mg tab po which showed positive 3 weeks after. There are sooo many incorrect responses to this question throughout the internet. Consider the source, and the fact that many of these people have nothing better to do than post on things they have no clue about!
