How long should I wait to try to get pregnant after taking malarone?

The data sheets don't have any advice about the length of time you should wait before you get pregnant. It does however say to perhaps not travel to areas where Malaria prophylaxis is needed.

Malarone contains atovaquone and proguanil.

The elimination half-life of atovaquone is about 2 to 3 days in adult patients.

The elimination half-life of proguanil is 12 to 21 hours in both adult patients and pediatric patients, but may be longer in individuals who are slow metabolizers.

It takes about 5.5 half life's before the drug is totally out of your system so if we used 3 days as the elimination half life (it being the maximum time given), then it would take 16.5 days (5.5 x 3 days) for both the ingredients of Malarone to be cleared from your system.

So I suppose it would be okay to become pregnant any time after that.
