how long does suboxone stay in your blood after taking?
13 Nov 2009
Suboxone contains buprenorphine and naloxone.
Buprenorphine has a mean elimination half-life from plasma of 37 h.
Naloxone has a mean elimination half-life from plasma of 1.1 h.
It takes 5.5 x elimination half life's for a drug to be out of your system. If we took the longest half life i.e. of buprenorphine, the medicine would be out of your system in about 203.5 hours i.e. about 8.5 days (5.5 x 37 hours).
So it would be in your system for about 8.5 days.
But a mass balance study of buprenorphine showed complete recovery of radiolabel in urine (30%) and feces (69%) collected up to 11 days after dosing.
