How many days do you need to take birth control pills before they start working (stop a pregnancy)?

I wouldn't count on them to be very helpful until the third week of the cycle at least you may need a full cycle before they can be counted on, if you don't want a pregnancy right now back-up with condoms until you have been on them for at least one month. Hope this helps, marjorie zych
