I am a new drug and alcohol counselor and someone asked me this question.
2 May 2010
Soma/Carisoprodol (Muscle Relaxant - Sedative) becomes effective when it metabolizes into the drug meprobamate (Milltown/Equanil/Meprospan) which remains active for 4-6 hours. Meprobomate has a half-life similar to barbiturate-class drugs, so 24-72 hours from the last dose, depending on metabolism/physiology of the patient. Normal drug tests will not detect Soma.
I would have thought a CSAC would have access to a PDR or Merck, silly me...
