I was on Seroquel XR until my new doc was against it because it causes diabetes( I am 45 female). I took his advise and began this new med. I am showing noticable signs of lower )depressed feelings-no suicidal , just down. I see him again in 3 weeks. Hope it gets better. Does anyone have experience with this med?

bluskyes,
Hi and welcome to the site!
I cannot speak for this particular medicine per say, but I have experienced a clinical depression. (1993) At that time it took five different meds to find the one that worked for that particular depression. I say that particular one, as every depression is different, therefore what would work during one episode may not work for another. I want to encourage you to continue your medication until you see your doctor. It takes a good 5-6 weeks before determining if this is the 'one' for you. Yes, it is a long process, but once you DO find the proper regime it will be like a light switch going on and you will be on your way to finding YOU again. I promise that you WILL find the right meds. Just be patient and stay here with us so we can continue to encourage and lift you up!
Best to you,
~Jillynnie

The med I am now taking is Pristq 50 mg. I am not sleeping very well on it. I am feeling more depressed having stopped my Seroquel XR . I see doc again on 27th, so I just have to hang in here til then. I just hate when they change meds. Everyone who has spoken with me( family, by phone mostly) say that can tell a huge difference in my moods. They say I seem more depressed. I don't really have anything that I enjoy at this moment... I know, I know, hang in there...
Hi, as laurie has said it takes about 4 weeks (give or take) for a new antidepressant/SNRI medication to 'settle' and so until this point it is quite normal, unfortunately, to be feeling this way. I found i felt very depressed and emotional when i started the antidepressant i am taking now. It is usual practice to wait until the 4 week mark, and then to consider increasing the dosage. However, i was feeling so bad that my dr increased my dose after 3 weeks, after this i felt better almost immediately. I can't promise the same will happen for you, but it is an option maybe? To get through the coming weeks, try taking a walk or getting some exercise everyday because this will increase your serotonin levels. To help you sleep, try melatonin (a natural product) or an antihistamine - such as benadryl. Try to have a good sleep regime, go to bed at the same time each night and don't lay it too late the next day.
Sorry i just wanted to clarify that increasing the dose of your meds can only be decided by your prescribing doctor, don't make the decision yourself! Just want you to be safe : )

notice the difference? Has anyone had any experience? BTW, happy new year to you all!!

I could actually tell a difference with the Seroquel XR for the first time in my life. I have sought help pretty much the better part of 30 years. I have had to have E.C.T.s and just don't EVER want to go back to where I once was. I am taking the med, I know the devastation that follows if I don't. I have been on MANY different meds through the years. Seroquel XR (besides E.C,T.s) have been only thing to make a difference. I am keeping a open mind , just needed others input. Thank you so very much for the welcome and the reply. Take care, stay safe and Bless you!!!
blue,
I am so sorry you aren't getting relief from this med. And, I also know the frustration of being told to 'hang in there'. I even said that to you and I probably should have worded it differently. I am sorry.
The 27th probably couldn't get her soon enough for you. Would it be possible to have them move the appointment sooner? Or, do you suppose they want to wait that long to determine if the medicine will work? If your family can already tell it isn't, perhaps you can share that with his/her nurse and they may be able to work you in? Just a thought.
So sorry you have to go through this.
Best,
~Jillynnie
