I stared Cymbalta about one week ago, and my dose was upped to 60mgs yesterday, I feel improvement in pain levels (I take it for fibromyalgia) already.
Perhaps it will improve your depression very soon, and it does NOT cause any weight gain, if you are thin be careful, it can cause weight loss.
Hope you feel better soon!

Hello qvbknO. How are you? Nice to meet you. I have been on both medications, so I might beable to help you a bit, in regards to cymbalta. I was on it part of 2009, all but for the month of December of 2010, stopped it, because of fatique, almost always feeling tired. However, I restarted it just this past week, my first day was Tuesday, the 5th of April. It was 30mg, and because of my tolerance towards it, am now on 60mg. Quick. My anxiety level is down, which is a blessing for me. Anxiety runs high with me. Thats why I asked my dr. to put me back on cymbalta. Usually, as you know, it takes some time, and we are all different when it comes to our reactions to meds. I have mostly positive things to say about it. Honestly I feel comfortable on my dosage. No weight gain, not in my case. It does not sedate me, only the feeling of being tired. That is the main reason I stopped taking it. So in a nut shell, I can allready feel it working.
You didn't mention the amount, dosage so again, hard to say in your case. When on lexapro, was your dose 20mg or higher? Well, there are other members here who will give you some answers, for this is a very caring, helpfull forum. Wishing you well, and hoping that it begins to help you as quickly as possible.

every person that is on anything at all responds differently, and the time span for people is also something that varies, I just wanted to let you know that I am a friend that cares very much, several years ago I had an episode of depression, I also was on Lexapro I took 10mg. of it daily, it was a little different with me I saw a change within the time span of two weeks. Cymbalta is a different medication and it is my hope that you get good results from it, sometimes it take a 3 to 4 weeks period of time in order to be able to tell but its my hope that you are feeling a difference soon, Please keep us posted

You may see results in as little as two weeks or it may take as much as a month or so. Give it time and hopefully this will help your condition. I have taken Cymbalta in the past with very good results. In fact, I took it for over 5 years. I just recently switched to Pristiq as I was sleeping too much.
Good luck with the new med,
