For general supplementation purposes, the recommended Adequate Intakes (AIs) for calcium are as follows:
0 to 6 months:210 mg daily
7 to 12 months: 270 mg daily
1 to 3 years: 500 mg daily
4 to 8 years: 800 mg daily
9 to 18 years: 1300 mg daily
19 to 50 years: 1000 mg daily
51 years and older: 1200 mg daily
Nausea and vomiting, muscle weakness, and excessive drowsiness are some of the possible symptoms that may occur with an overdose of calcium. Symptoms of an overdose may occur if your dosage exceeds the Tolerable Upper Intake Level" (UL), which is 2500 mg (2.5 grams) daily. If you happen to take too much calcium, be sure to seek medical attention right away. Hope this helps?
