Marcaine (Bupivacaine) is given as an injection placed into an area of your lower back near your spine. You will receive this injection in a hospital or surgical setting.

My mother was injected with Marcaine and Kenalog (steroid) in her ankle joints due to severe arthritis and pain. The Marcaine served as a local and long acting anesthetic and the Kenalog reduced the inflammation due to her condition.
