In my hospital, we use Haldol and find it to be very effective. We usually give it IM (by shot) to psychotic patients, especially those who are severly agitated and/or delirious. When given IM, it takes about 15-30 minutes to take effect; when given PO (by mouth), it usually takes 30 minutes to an hour. Hope this helps with your question.

Need to know who is getting haldol and why.
Haldol from what I have read should not be given to people with dementia especially if they are already on other psychotic drugs.
It is a very potent drug. Please give more information
