My grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer's three years ago and has been taking Aricept regularly for quite awhile now but he seems like hes getting worse as time goes on, was wondering if Aricept eventually stops working if on it for any length of time
How effective is Aricept if taken over a period of time?

punkbaby2118bear; I am sorry to hear about your grandfather. My dad just passed away in September from Alzheimers. Aricept is a good medication but does lose its effectiveness after a while. You did not mention whether or not he is on Namenda ot the Exelon Patch. If he is not on these medications then I personally recommend that he be tried on them. Of course nothing is going to bring his mind back fully, but this will help fight of the disease and give him some more quality time with his family. Good Luck to you.
