What would the difference between percocet 10 and oxycontin 10 be? I know the oxycontin is extended release, but which one would be the "stronger" of the 2, or the most potent... what about their durations, how long does each last? And how much of the oxycodone is released in what amount of time with the contin? Would it be like 5 mg released right away and then another 5 mg released 6hrs later or what? I know some people take 80mg + of oxy at one time b/c they are used to it, but I have never taken more than about 5mg (10mg a few times) at once in tylox form, so I'm worried how strong the oxycontin 10 will be... thanks...

They are both oxycodone, its just how its prepared. Percocet is for short term relief (4-6 hrs) And usually you won't see any doses of perocet / oxycodone IR(immediate release) larger than 15mg. You are fairly correct in how oxycontin is released into your bloodstream. As far as potency goes, from my personal experience I find oxycodone IR or percocet better for pain relief than oxycontin, but I haven't taken higher end doses of oxycontin. But if you take oxycontin incorrectly (crushed or chewed) its effect will be much stronger than percocet/oxy IR but will only last 4-6 hours. 10mg of oxycontin will have a stronger "high" than 10mg of oxy IR. But there is no good reason to chew oxycontin from a medical standpoint and I wouldn't advise it. If you take an oxycontin 10mg properly you should be fine.
Hope that helps answer your question.

the oxycontin is stronger than the perc. perc 10s have more filler than the oxy(more acetimenophen) im not sure how the time release works but if you're not in severe pain and teh percocet is working i would stick with those, or even check out the non narcotic pain killers. the withdrawl from both the percocet and especiallyh the oxy is excruciating. i would suggest researching alternative pain management!

first of all both drugs are from the oxycodone family percocet is not time release as far as i know roxicodone goes up to 30 mg and it is IR the oxycontin has a coating on it which enables it to release med in your body for long periods of time also oxycontin does not has the tylenol in it as the percocet does You should not take more than 2000 mg of tylenol daily as far as i know the perc 10/325 has the smallest dosage of tylenol so also beware of taking so much percocet because it can lead to liver disease

the only difference that I know of between the two is one is a extended release which is the oxycontin ,the percocet has some tylenol in it. as far as crushing either of them would be for abuse purposes only and for some reason I dont feel like these are your intentions. be careful dear as for me the person who taught me how to crush the percocet had a very bad habit of not only takng pain killers etc. but also had a habit of getting other people to abuse there meds so that they to would get hooked and that would give them another number to call when all of theres was already crushed and up there nose. The tollerence of opiates builds very quickly by its self no need to rush it .hows the weather up there I assume your in ashville . any way beware of sheeps in wolves cloths theres and awful lot of them in this world.

how do iinject 5mg oxycotin with the m onth pill
I really need help I am suffering! I have been taking percocet 10/325 for a while now and now my MD has started me on oxycontin so that I can be "taking less pills" She started me on 10mg 2X a day. Since then we have increased it to 3 10mg 2x a day and i feel NO relief! I still need just as many of the percocets. How many do you think I really need with such a high tolerance?

I am a Registered Dental Hygienist for last 25 yrs so have dealt with many painkillers/analgesics/anesthetics.But as for your question it is sad to say my information comes from the "streets".I have watched my significant other crush and smoke oxycontins still! While in between popping Percocets.Merely from my observations the Oxycodone is more potent but it is being misused & abused. This is Oxycodone 80(just looked it up on pill identifier).Percocets do have more fillers and acetaminophen that decrease the opiate effect. On occasion after dental surgery we prescribe Percocets never Oxycodone but usually Vicodin(synthetic codeine). This FDA crap of not being able too crush oxys is laughing stock on the "streets".Your main concern should be building up a tolerance very quickly. My significant other is no longer with me due to his problem & denial. It not only has caused him physical pain but paranoia and psychosis that I just cannot tolerate any longer. But I am still researching this problem...
Percocet is Oxycodone just to let you know, and acetaminophen doesn't decrease the opiate effect. It actually makes it feel like it working better. They work together to relieve the pain.

I have also had problems with Oxycontin VS Oxycodone. Oxycontin is time release and the new form cannot be crushed or chewed and is available in 20mg to 160mg. The last dose being available only to cancer patients. Oxycodone however is available in 5mg to 30 mg. Your lower doses are mixed with acetomenathine while the higher doses are not. I have been on these meds for 6 years now and am only 38 years old. I have seen many people fall prey to the addiction. As well as myself. I try not to abuse it, and take it only as needed but even then I feel completely ruled by my meds. I plan my daily activities around my med times, as to when i will feel my best or if I am running low I may not go out at all. There is nothing I would like more in this world than to not have to take these meds but we we can't afford to pay for the surgery that may help me. I have Trigenimal Nueralgia and my insurance will only pay for 60% of my needed surgery.
