The effectiveness of antibiotics is infuenced by many factors including the type bacteria being treated.
Cefpodoxime is more active against respiratory tract bacterial infections than cefixime.
They are both cephalosporin type antibiotics, which are broad spectrum antibiotics. They work by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis which results in bacteria death.
