I was administered a dose of Ativan after a hysterectomy and went into Actue respiratory Faillure and Respiratory Acidosis. I remained after I coded in ICU for 4 and one-half days took 3 days before I woke up to realize what had happened.
How common is it to use Ativan after a surgery?

I think it is very common among ER and or after-surgery recovery treatment.I have heard alot of people lately, telling me that Ativan or generic lorazepam is one of the most commonly used medications used after surgery.I hope this has helped as to the question and would also like to say if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Ativan is used often after surgery to keep the patient relaxed. It also helps with nausea which many people have post operatively. I am so sorry to hear what you have been through! Thank God you came out of it ok. I hope you are ok? Feeling better now I hope?
