Okay, first of all sweety, I feel your pain and exactly what your going through. Let me just say this.. I just moved from Tucson, AZ to eastern, NC and it seems that AZ doctors are easier going on prescribing narcotics or really any type of pain relief medication then the rest of the country.
I have severe medical problems and have been being treated with narcotics (among 9 other daily meds) for the last year. Then I move to NC, and run out of medication, finally get in to see a new primary care doc and they tell me tough $#!T. They dont prescribe narcotics. Hello, I was just told I need to see a breast surgeon because they believe the solid mass in my tatta is cancer and you wont give me a measly prescription? Okay, well the meds are for other pain not the boob but still, a little compassion would be nice. I mean I didnt put myself on the meds, so why do I deserve to go through withdrawls? That was the worst I had ever felt in my life. It was like Kimo therapy.
Oh God. Im sorry, I have been needing to vent for a few weeks now. So a doctor more be more willing to prescribe something called Zomig to you. Its for Severe migrains. And it works pretty good. But if your like me, after yolur migrain goes away, your entire head feels like its been beating with a baseball bat, almost like a giant bruise. So having a little narcotic on top of the Zomig should work great. Try telling your doctor that. Or even try going to the emergency room/Urgent care and telling them whats up. If your straight talking with them and let them know what works for you and who your doc was in AZ and what they were giving you then they might be more likely to give you what you ask for.
Or you just might need to drop this doc. I hope this helped, and my appologies for ranting on about my issues. :0) Hope you feel better.
Thanks Robert! I understand your comment and I have all of the items you listed (and more) in my files. By posting this question, I was hoping to get a recommendation to a doctor that others have been successful in working with: a doctor who actually listens and is willing to work w/ the patient re: treatments. I am really angry and upset because I have spent 4 years trying to "do it the right way" and the only thing I have to show for it is living in pain and occasional relief from Imitrex. It is very depressing and anxiety inducing: I am so monumentally frustrated that I am almost in tears now (but I am at work so I have to pull it together). Does anyone have a good dr. or nurse practitioner (a name or number) to recommend?
