Hi,what is relation between leishmlania, allopurinol and leishmania growth, uric acid?

Allopurinol inhibits xanthine oxidase, the enzyme that synthesizes uric acid from hypoxanthine. Reduces the synthesis of uric acid without disrupting the biosynthesis of vital purines. Not effective as monotherapy for leishmaniasis.
