I have previously been on Infliximab and have been told the effects are the same. Is this true?
Hi, I have had my first dose of Humira today. I am wondering what sort of side effects to expect?

Hi Mel
Some of the side affects I have experienced was bruising at the injection site, and my leg would swell up. I have also developed an allergy to the Humaria and I take 50 mg of Benedryl. Other then that I haven't had any major issues. Sometimes I feel "off" for a couple days but for the most part I'm okay.
My biggest issue is I have Hepatitis B And technically I'm not supposed to Take it so I have to take Baraclude in top of it. So far my liver function tests are good. I am going down to IU medical center to see a Hepatologist because my new Gastrointestinal doctor isn't too keen on me taking it.
Good luck!! Are you able to get into the Humaria protection program? I lucked out and got into the funding program And That has helped me tremendously.

I am in the UK so things like protection programs dont exist here, what is it?
I had a severe reaction to my infliximab infusion after having 6, so my consultant has agreed to allow me to try Humira. So far so good, am feelilng very tired but that is the same as before and a little fuzzy headed. Usualy it only lasts one day so fingers crossed.
Do you find that it starts to wear off over the two weeks? I had Infliximab every 8 weeks but by week 6 felt dreadfull again, I realy hope this does'nt happen every 2 weeks on Humira.
Good luck at the Hepatologist!!

Hi Mel
Well its a program that helps fun the Humaria. I an assuming you are taking it fir Crohns or is it for Rheumatoid arthritis? Do you have to pay for your medication in the UK? Its very expensive. here in the US its 2,000.00 for a months supply. Luckily I'm on this funding program. I am not sure how I got on it When the medicine was prescribed to me the doctors office must have gotten me enrolled because I don't remember doing it.
Sorry your other medicine didn't set with You. I am very sensitive to medication so its difficult to medicate me without having some kind of reaction.
Are. You able to work? I do work full time, right now I am recovering from major back surgery And it'd Bern a rough go.
Take care
Jen
Hi Jen,
I guess we are lucky here in the UK because we dont pay directly for health care (we have the NHS), I dont know how you cope with health care costs in the US.
I have had Crohns disease for the last 19 years, and up untill a few years ago it has always been dealt with via surgery, I have lost count of the amount I've had (in the 30's). It has got to the point now where most of my problems are due to the surgery rather than the Crohns, after a proctectomy 12 years ago I have had repeated fistulas and sinus's that never seem to heal.
I am unable to work due to the constant feelings of being unwell and fatigue. Plus the constant infections.
I started Infliximab last August and had fantstic results, I actualy began to feel human agin.lol I had a reaction and my infusions were stopped.
I am praying now that Humira works in the same way..
I hope you are well... Have you got Crohns?
