Hi, I have full blown fibromyalgia and was prescribed zanaflex by my consultant today?

I have taken 8 mg of zanaflex for at least 5 years and I take it at night to help me go to sleep and to relax my muscles over night. It doesn't help me so much in the daytime but it is great for my sleep at night. I have found that Savella helps me by far the most with pain and I also take Ultram ER with the Savella. I have not had the zanaflex become ineffective at all and have had a great experience with it. My son also has fibro and he takes 4 mg at night and it does wonders for him.

hie llallo, unfortunately our bodies get used to just about anything we put into it when it comes to pain. one thing i have learned sense i met up with pain on my way down to ground.no matter how much medicine we put into our bodies they have this uncanny way of telling just a little more. for me that was 4 years ago.i can't even try to fell the pain you are feeling.my heart goes out to you.i hope you find that combo of medicine that makes your life better.keep on your doctors,and always remember they work for you.and if they tell you this medicine takes time before you feel better. change medicine and doctors..

Zanaflex SUCKS unles you have MS, it should kick in after 45 mins with a 2 hour half life. If you dont feel better from zanaflex the first time you take it it will never work the drug is out of your system in 72 hours to a week if I remember correctly I have plates in my skull and neck I have had brain surgery twice. I work at a pharmacy and our patients with full blown Fibro. are usualy on a Narcotic pain killer like Percocet or Oxyconton and always a Benzo. like Xanax or Klonopin. They have 3mg extended release xanax that work wonders with a pain Killer. Good Luck!
