hi i have a patient who cannot swallow his digoxin tab any ideas?

Ask the dr. They almost have to tell you to use an alternate medication in an IV. If a person won't swallow something what else can you do unless you stick it in back of his throat which would be kind of cold blooded.
If you are in a hospital setting, you may want to talk to the pharmacist and see if it could be compounded in some form that your patient could swallow. If this occurs on the outpatient setting, samething, call one of your local compounding pharmacys and ask them. good luck.
