I am terrified to take it, yet when I get the ovaries to do so, I notice a rebound effect, my muscle spasms seem to come back worse!!! Is this a possibility, or is it just ME??
I've Fibromyalgia, and RA... if that helps.
Thank you all in advance for any/all opinions, theories, wild guesses or just a discussion in general. Also, anyone with fibro notice that Soma causes STINGING in their twigs (Irish speak for legs) or once again... is it just ME???
Your friend,
sweetlemon
Hi friends! I would love to hear from any Soma user's. Do you think it causes a rebound effect?

Hi Sweetlemon,
I've just started taking generic (Soma), brand (Vicodine) as I was told. It's only been a couple of days.I have not noticed any side affects. I had took one mid-day and two late evening and I'm not sure if it's the cause for my sleepful night but I got extremely tired and almost pain free. Yet I woke up with my joints feeling more sore than the night before. I don't want to get addiced to it but I can't handle all my pains and the ones diagnosed. Let me know how it works for you. The first time someone gave me a hydrocone (blue), I was jumping up and down and even danced. It's been 8-10 years I have not felt extreme pain. I hope you can have that day and even more. I definately understand. Good luck Sweetlemon

PeggyLee and Bhedge,
Thank you both for you answers! Peggy, Soma works quite well as a mucle relaxer, yet tis quite addictive so I am afraid to take it, I take half of one about once a month. Be careful with it, it can affect the heart! And I've heard that detoxing off of Soma is a nightmare, don't mean to nag or judge, just a friendly warning.
Thank you again for your answer, and yes, Soma will make one very sleepy!
Your friend,
Hey Sweetlemon,
Thank you for your adivce regarding an addiction to Soma. When I see the doctor at the Hospital and I'm hoping that they can find out what is wrong with it isl Knowing Doctors as I do, I'm taking my husband with me due to my panic disorder, and I'm also bringing bringing a question list for the doctor. I cannot stand doctors (unless it is a female) because they tend to talk down to me and hear only what they want to. Women can only truly understand what another is feeling. I will be intouch with you to give you an update when it's overl
I agree with Mary try the Flexeril. The doc I worked for used it alot. Von
Hi sis, and Vonnie!
I will ask for flexeril on my next appointment, oh heck, I may work up the nerve to call my doc and ask him to call it in, TY friends!!!
Mary, I hope you are feeling better my pal !!!
Lara
I have a question too. I have tingling in my neck and shoulders like at my hair line and if I sit a long time I can't hardly walk or it I'm doing alot of walking and sit down it is worse about being able to get up and move??? Von
Hi Von, sounds like maybe some arthritis setting in. I have the same problem. Have bone spurs on all the vertebrae, & they can really be painful, & cause these symptoms. Mary

I took flexeril forever, and it never did anything. Soma helps me alot, but my doctor won't give it to me, yet WILL give me enough Tramadol to last til the end of time, and that IS hard to withdraw from! When I took Soma, only at night and slept better than EVER, I never had any problems coming off of it. Hope you find something to help. And the stinging, I've heard, can definitely be from the fibromyalgia.
Hi there soldiers girt,
Thanks for your plexnty. I have come across plenty of Soma and am going to use it sparingly, and I have plenty of Tramadol but it does NOTHING for me. The doctor's at the clinic will not give me anything stronglly for my back or Neuropathy, just Neruontin whigh seems to work pretty well at 1600mg a day, I'm trying to use my stairstepper but it kills my back. Though after I gat my xrays this coming Friday maybe things will change. I'm going to ask the physision about fibromyanlgia.
Thank you so much,
Peggy Lee
I never had any problems coming off Soma or Tramadol either one. I could always just take or leave either one! i took Trmadol on a regular basis for 2-3 years and just stopped it cold turkey, no problem. My Drs group harps on about how Soma is addictive and I could always take it or leave it, no problem. I prety much stopped it cold turkey too, after years of use on a daily basis. I've never craved either one.

Hi, Lara:
As you probably already know, I LOVE Soma! It is the ONLY drug that has ever helped my extreme neck and shoulder pain, which is allegedly caused by cervical stenosis. I have pain in my muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
I was originally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, due to all-over body pain, which included joints too. However, when it was discovered that I was hypothyroid and was put on meds for it, ALL the body pain (except for the chronic neck/shoulder pain) just magically went away--in one week--after 12 years of suffering with it!!!
For me, Soma works like a dream--and allows me to dream. :) I take only one half to one tablet at bedtime, and most nights can sleep, uninterrupted, for at least six hours--- after 35+ years of insomnia! I wake up refreshed and do not have a drugged out feeling during the day.
I have taken this same dose since 2006, and have never had to increase it.
Girl, I have really wondered about you and the hubby! I'm glad he is home, please update us soon. your friend Von
MaryMHB,
I just knew I would hear from you, eventually!! I know you've had great success with Soma, and so have I, when I've the nerve to take it. I just wonder if it causes rebound muscular tightness.
I am so very glad your hubby is out of hospital !!! Do update us when you've the time, I know how crazy it has been for you. And for him.
xoxo
Lara
Hi PeggyLee,
Don't let male doctor's cow you!! They are not God's, they are just people like us! And I think taking your husband is a smart idea if they patronize you.
Also, your list of questions is smart too!
Hope you find something that works for your pain, and they find the diagnoses too. Have you been tested for Lyme disease? It can mimic fibro. I was tested for it three times, saw an infectious disease specialist.
Best wishes gurl,
Lara P.S. I am about to post another Q about what aggravates fibro, I want to hear peoples personal theories, not what I can read on the web!!

hello sweet lemon, I have been taking soma for years and I have been just fine!
I have severe neck pain, shoulder and low back pain. They help me a lot but I have to take 2 at a time. But when you run out you may have a reaction of pain for a few days. That is my experience. Hope your pain eases up for you.

Hi Khisha!
I've recently (within ten days) been prescribed Baclofen, and tis truly a miracle medication for me!! It works great without the side effects of Soma.
I'd never run out of Soma before, so I do not know of the withdrawal effect from it, Thank God for that!! Please be ever so careful if you are taking two tabs as it can affect ones heart, as I'm sure you know already.
Thank you so much for your answer Khisha,
sweet lemon P.S. may I ask how many miligrams of Soma you are prescribed?

Hey Lara, I know I am just a wee bit late with this answer But here goes... I noticed no rebound affect, but I was also on alot of pain meds at the time as well. I thought Soma worked very well, but alas the my doc would only prescribe a single time he thought it was too dangerous of a drug. Bye Baby Cakes-K

My doctor wouldn't let me stay on it very long as it is addictive. It could be that your body has gotten used to the dosage and now it's going to take more to get the same effect. That's the problem with habit forming drugs. I feel for you. I have found that Methadone works for me. It works at the same dosage day in and day out. I feel I really lucked out. It's habit forming too. I take one 10 mg. tablet every six hours. It works for me!
Hi pegasi9,
I no longer take Soma. When I did take it, it was only about once or twice a week though. I know how addictive it can be, there have been many Q's about how to get off Soma on this board since I joined and I don't ever want to become addicted to anything!
Thank you for your response,
sweet lemon

Sweet, glad hubby i better and praying for the best for both you. I'm ok, just hanging in there.lol :) Maybe Patti, Laurie or Dzoo will help you out, they are good with these questions. Von
Sorry sweet, I don't have any experience with Soma. I do know every doctor I've seen says that all pain meds can cause rebound, even Tylenol, though it's usually headache. I'm not sure if it can cause rebound pain in limbs. But since everything I take for my headaches causes more headaches, I guess it's possible. It could be a drug interaction maybe? I'd talk with your pharmacist and your doctor.
