Has anyone had to titrate off of Baclofen? If so, how difficult was it?
Any opinions about Baclofen are welcome friends!! I find this medication to be quite helpful with muscle spasms related to Fibromyalgia. Just wondering about addictive properties as well...
Thank you in advance!!!

Hello Lovebug,
My pm put me on this when they were trying to stop dispensing somas.
I was told they worked as well as or better than the soma. I took them for a month and did not notice any rebound. I did notice it when I was on the soma, though.
Did this help?
(or will I get a td?)

Goodmorning Sweet lemon, laurie, Jillynnie. I thought this might be a good place to say this Lara, so sorry, I can't help you as to your question. But you know that. :-0) Oh, and thanks Jillynnie for your kind words yesterday, just finished reading the various comments. No need to answer this, its purely my thoughts on TD's. I really don't know who is doing it. But I remember Laurie at one time saying that she puts in time and effort for some of her answers. Which is true in my case, not always but I tend to read up on something that I am not 100% up on. Having said all that, what I don't understand is fine disagree, give a thumbs down, but at least state why. I've disagreed with Laurie, Rajieve, and Billy to name a few people, but I open my thread/response with I disagree with so and so, and then I give my explanation. I see Jillynnie has a thumbs down.(your answer up above) So, I'll give her a thumbs up. Well, thats about it.
good morning, Pledge. :)
I forgot to tell ALL that I made a fresh batch of blueberry muffins. Please help yourselves! They are oh so yummy! :)
Thanks for the coffee! Going good with the muffins.
Sure the hubby will be awatchin the open! :)
Great day to all! Much LOVE!!
~Jillynnie
ps: I completely agree with you, Pledge. If we disagree that is okay. We just need to state why. I have only delivered one thumbs down to date. (that I can remember) and it was just this morning. I stated why in my post. The person was just being hateful and rude. Said I hoped heshe found someone compassionate when it is his/her turn to be in pain, be it physical or mental. OR to be prepared for the slap in the face that he/she just delivered.
Love blueberry muffins. I might take a few them, since they're so delicious. topping them with sweet butter. And again, have a great day, I'm running late as all get out (a trade mark of mine)... :-0) You have yourself a super fine one Jillynnie, and thats meant for all the good people that drop in from time to time, for coffee, tea, someones always going to bring something tastey. Cream and sugar? Oh,sugar cubes? We have those. Two mugs with sugar cubes coming up, hold the cream.

I have been on baclofen for quite some time now. It used to help with sleeping but now my doctor switched me to another pill called metaxalone 800mg 3x a day (skelaxin). Not sure if it is helping but I just started on a new regime of medicine and still waiting for medicare approval. My pm doctor recommended a new medication but I will write more about it when I get it approved. I am still on the fentanyl patch and I am trying to get my pm doctor to talk to my orthopedic surgeon but apparently this is not common practice. To get back to the baclofen, I was happy with what this once did and I was on a 10mg regime. Don't think this helps your question any. I was off the morphine patch for about two weeks and went into a little withdrawal but it wasn't that bad. I am used to going through withdrawal with medications but the worse experience I ever had was with Elevil.
Thank you TMM!! Hope all is well with you! I shall remember the elavil thang!
Thanks again my friend!!

I didn't notice a rebound effect from Baclofen. I'm new to this forum and don't know the rules but I think you need to know my experience going off Baclofen. I was prescribed Baclofen for fibromyalgia and took it for several months. I moved to another state and ran out of my prescription and just stopped taking it. Within a day I was having seizures and (they tell me) babbling incoherently. After CT scans and spinal taps I ended up in the psych ward and it was five days before I came to and the doctor explained to me what had happened. I had had a complete psychotic break. I had, and still have, no memory of the preceding five days. My boyfriend researched it and couldn't find any information until he contacted an obscure website in England which described what had happened to me. It was from abrupt Baclofen withdrawal. I had never had any kind of psychosis before or, thank God, since.
omg... thank you Catmother for the heads up on Baclofen!! How incredibly scary!! I won't go cold turkey off of it that is for certain!! LaurieShay did warn me of going cold turkey and I most certainly won't do that, ever!!
Baclofen has some odd side effects too, I've lost my sense of taste, and have lost weight (which I did NOT need to lose) and it causes Tinnitus as well. Ugh. I'm wondering if I should begin tapering right now? What say you guys? Any opinions? It has helped with muscle spasms and cramping from Fibro though!!!
Thank you again catmother!!
Hi, Sweet Lemon! I don't know how to "friend" on this forum yet--maybe you can tell me. As to the Baclofen, ask your doc the best way to go off. But if it's helping, why go off? I'm amazed you lost weight--I gained. But I seem to gain on everything :(. Except morphine. It's simple and cheap. And it works for pain with no side effects, except constipation which I can deal with: Docusate Sodium works fine. Also simple and cheap. It's these complicated drugs that seem to put on the weight for me: Lyrica, Cymbalta, Elavil, all the supposed fibromyalgia drugs. Have a great day! And "hi" to everyone here. Love and Peace, Catmother

Hi!! YES!!! It's been proven very difficult for me to get off of!!! I went into a 90 day rehabilitation program earlier in 2011 and I was there for alcohol and pill abuse and I couldn't have ANY of my regular meds I'd been taking except for my beta blocker. But they put me thru a 2 week cycle of detox. It was mostly vitimans and melatonin to help me sleep but they also gave me BACLOFEN as part of the detox!!! So I slept somewhat ok for two weeks and when they were gone I joked to everyone that I had to "detox off my detox meds"!!! I once again had trouble sleeping, back and leg cramps, aches, ect. It was pretty tough for awhile. Everyone's different tho!! I wish u luck!!!

What is with this rash of thumbs down? Who is doing this and why? It really makes me mad when someone doesn't even have the where-for-all to explain their TD.
Hi Laurie,
I so agree with ye!! How very rude... any idea who it might be???
Lara
xx
Wish I did, I'd give em a piece of my mind, and we all know that I don't have much to spare.
thanks for the giggle Laurie!!!
well, lookie there! I DID get a thumbs down. Okay, so... how do I respond? In anger? In kind? DO know that whomever is doling these out will most assuredly get this response... so..perhaps the person is like the BTK'er. They like being talked about and thought about. SO... going forward I am of the IDGAS mode. Continue with the TD's. No further response from me.
LOVE!! LOVE!! LOVE!! you guys! :)
IDGAS mode?? Care to elucidate me on that Jillybean?
Call me ignoramous!! And you are sooo right, this nutless wonder likes to be talked about!! lol...
oh, silly sweet lemon...
you know this answer. Here, I'll give you a start. if IDK means I Don't Know.
Then IDGAS would mean...
I bet you got it now! lol
I think it's terrible, but I agree, the more we talk about it, the more the person doing it is enjoying it. Lets ignore the idiot!
WellI have to admit I told the td'er off yesterday. They got after me puckiemull and I do believe Pledge. Trying to help a new member, and I told them to get a life and go on their way we didn't need them here. I don't care about getting the td, but it makes new people needing help think this is a joke and they don't come back. And there are people out there that need the help and support this site gives. Thats it thats the last time I'm going to address this sick person. Von-1
Ok, Ladies, my turn about this TD'r now. Perhaps part of this is my fault for trying to set someone right about the difference between symptoms and actual illnesses. I came to this website looking for help on my condition of gastroparesis. In turn, I have made a number of friends, and found that I was able to help a few others that suffer from the some of the same things that I do. It was so nice the way I was treated here, I felt at ease, everyone was so nice, and ready to lend a shoulder and comforting words. Many of you offered resources to help me with my conditions, kind words of encouragement, so much support and all that I was so relaxed. It was when a subject about anxiety and panic disorders came up that I think this whole mess got started. I made the statement that anxiety and panic disorders are true illnesses and not just symptoms to which point I was argued down. I stood my ground, and was TD'd for it.

When Von, and others agreed with me, that is when the TD's seemed to start. I am very sorry for creating any trouble for all of you. I just had to stand my ground on that because I suffer from both illnesses, anxiety and panic disorder. They are true illnesses, and not just symptoms of something else. When I believe in, and know something to be true, I will stand my ground and argue you down til the cows come home. If that upsets someone, Im sorry. This board is for all of us to show support and compassion to each other for all that each of us has to deal with. We are here by choice, to show love and to help one another. To make a difference for new members to feel they have a place they can turn to and find the love, support and encouragement they need during a time of illness or crisis. Its NOT a place for childish bullying and bad attitudes because someone got their feelings hurt. We are mostly adults here and should be able to agree to disagree with others feelings. We are not back in kindergarten here.. Again, Im sorry if my arguments caused all the trouble from someone getting their feelings hurt and now they feel they can only retaliate by giving everyone a thumbs down for every question they answer. That is so childish and really quite sad. Sounds like someone needs to grow up. Im climbing down off my podium now. Im sorry for the trouble, Folks.
In search of Peace,
Teresa (aka Tee6759)
Dearest Tee-
You didn't cause ANYTHING!!! You are so very kind to all, and you should stand your ground gurl !!
I do believe the TD'er has been admonished or asked to vacate the site, so perhaps we will not need to put up with childish/jealous/nasty behaviour?
I sure hope so!!!
Love to all,
