Hi sweetie. This will not help u any, but my dr and I r trying to find a sleep aid to help my insomnia, but I have never heard of that. If u do take it, if u don't mind will u let me know how well it worked and how u feel the next morning, and side effects. I am on zolpridem and it makes meget to sleep fast and stay Asleep. I just don't like side and next a.m. effects. Some people I know think I need to ask m dr abt fibromyalgia. They think I have signs but I have no clue what it is. Good luck with your new meds and keep me informed how everything works for u.:-)
There were 2 reviews for topamax used in the treatment for fibro. Both were very positive! One was combined with cymbalta the other taken alone. One answer stated she was on opiates and able to quit them and takes the combination. The other said it was a wonder drug for her daughter.
Sounds very promising so far!
Wow Girly, u have us all stumped on that one. Maybe try to find Robert325 or Psyched. I think one is a dr and one mayb a pharmacist(but not dead sure I just know they know their stuff). Good luck hope someone can help u cause I am the same way now about taking stuff I never heard of...

I now take Silenor 3mg for insomnia as needed and it allows me 8 hours of sleep without waking up. I take it a half hour before I go to bed. I rarley even get 5-6 to hours without Silenor. I have no side effects as I did with pure Doxepin.
Maybe try two 3 mg pills. Hope u sleep well.
Thank you drugscom30, and everyone else, I took two Silenor last night and got 7 hours of sleep! A miracle.
The jury is still out on Topamax, took first dose (50mgs) today, felt a bit stoned, but NOT like the Lyrica!!! I'll post more after I take more, if 'tis possible... duhhhhhhhhhh.
Happy to hear you got some sleep my friend! Yes, stay away from lyrica and keep us posted on your progress!

I am a real chicken when it comes to meds now, but I'll let you know how the Silenor works for insomnia.
Thanks,

Hi Sweetlemon, haven't been on for a long time, but i wanted to ask if you wouldn't mind, can you tell me what your first symptoms of fibromyalgia were? And also, what the first drug you tried for it was? Does it start out w/alot of achiness and difficulty getting moving in the a.m.? and get better as day progresses, or not get better EVER. (I hope that's not the case, for your sake of course) Anyway, sorry, i don't know about the drugs, but alot of people might benefit from your answer re the beginning symptoms of the fibro, if you wouldn't mind. Thank you dear, and good luck w/the new drugs. I could sure use something to lose weight, this sedentary lifestyle has not done well by me, i'll tell ya.
Love, Dede
Hi Dede,
Good to see you! Yes, you covered the symptoms pretty well. Once it gets worse, some people have nerve pain, tis almost like a stinging sensation.
There are also "trigger points" or muscle knots, especially in shoulder muscles (deltoids?) or other areas. When I first was diagnosed about 10 years ago, it hurt to be touched at times! Hope you do not have fibro Dede!
xo,
Lara
Thanks Lara, I get the stinging sensation in my right thigh but that is after being on my feet or walking a bit, w/the help of shopping cart of walker, whichever, since i have the bad varicose veins which will be removed soon and then the hip replacement surgery i need and some problems w/my ankle it's hard to know what's what, but have found that my shoulder, inside elbows,

behind and front of knees seem to ache alot in a.m. and maybe it's arthritis, but maybe not, so appreciate your response. I have one relative w/fibro and she goes through hell w/the touching thing, so I pray that is not your case any longer. I'll just have to see how things go, maybe after my surgery and removal of the veins things will improve, and i also found a wonderful tonic from the acupuncturist that my best friend goes to that i put on my knee the other night and was pain free for 2 days, if you are interested in anything like that, let me know and i'll find out the name, going to get some for myself i think, alot of those chinese medicines are really good and since you are not that big on regular medications, maybe you might want to try something more
naturopathic? Let me know and i'll get the name for you. Have a good day and hope you get some answers on the Topomax and i've never heard of the sleeping drug. xxoo Dede
I hate to tell you this but my first PM doc gave me topamax and I gained weight like crazy. I had not changed anything BUT the topomax, in 2 weeks I had gained 15 pounds. Sorry, but if I had waited to see if it worked for my nerve pain, I would have been a sumo! I don't lose weight easily and being on Lexapro, I am still fighting the weight... Sorry, but I thought I should be honest... good luck sweetpea
Hi! I have not taken Topomax but I am curious about the new sleep medication. I would like any info that you have. It sounds like you may have some arthritis. I encourage you to see a specialist for an evaluation. I wish you the best and I hope that you find the right treatment. I would be happy to be your friend! Sweetie Pie
Low grade fever often with extreme fatigue and insomnia, achiness in morning, some brain fog, those were my first symptoms of fibro. First and only med, 25 mgs of amitriptyline at night. No side effects except thirsty at night while I slept, brought a drink to the bed each night.
Whoa, my doc said weight loss, not gain! I am NOT getting porky!
I am happy to be the guinea pig for both the sleep med and Topamax!
I shall report all the gory details as soon as I know something of importance.
Has anyone heard that Topamax can cause hair loss? I had a giant head of hair, so losing a bit won't kill me, dont wanna be a bald girl though! LOL
