tonestarIs anyone taking a combination of xanax and mirtazapine and if so what dosage of each they are on ? The reason I ask is I feel i want to stop taking the mirtazapine as it doesnt seem to be doing anything and I want to slowly taper off the xanax. Am on 45mg of mirtazapine and 2mg of xanax up to 3 times a day..sometimes a little more. I asked my doctor about it and she wasnt keen on taking me off the mirtazapine but is happy for me to cut down on the xanax. Prob is i feel I need the xanax more than the mirtazapine ? anyone else taking both and had same situation ? As always appreciate any comments.

man u sound like me isnt it just like a doc i dont know what it is besides that xanax is very addcitive i dont get any withdrawal when i am without anyways BTW i would simply talk to her thats whati did with my pdoc for panic disorder told him i wasnt benefitting to the effexor the way i was benefitting fromm the xanax so he upped it and such. I am no won 2mg 3 x a day too and is good for me. hope i didnt ramble too much my answer anyways is totally be truthful with your doc i find when i am truthful with therm they dont suspect u of anything and u dont get judged thats the way me and my doc get alogn she actually told me she is grateful to me for not being afraid to tell her anything anyways good luclk to u u will be in my thoughtas lol janymak

Hello tonestar. The benzodiazepine, xanax, is addictive whereas the mirtazapine isn't. So,to stop the xanax, you'll find it a rough go, compared to the miratzapeine. I currently take mirtazapine and years ago, went through detox because of my xanax addiction. Mirtazapeine is not an anti-anxiety, whereas xanax is exactly that. Your body will crave the xanax, it most probably will not the mirtazapine.Best wishes to you,

thanks for your reply... yeh i have a good rapport with my doc and she gets me etc... just doesnt think im ready to come off the anti d's..maybe she is the doc after all... i tell her everything etc am very upfront... most docs just write a script and off ya go,.she has been a great help etc. so guess am lucky... so really i should shutup for now and keep going... thanks again n have a great day/nite... cheers
