... off work on short term disability. I was already taking Zoloft 50mg, but my doc upped that to 200mg and just added 12.5mg of Seroquel to boost the Zoloft and help with sleep. Anybody used Seroquel in low doses as an add-on to their antidepressant? How did it work? How long did it take for you to get maximum benefit? Any input at all would be appreciated. Thank you
Hi all, I'm new here. I just suffered a serious major depressive episode, bad enough that I'm now?

Hello jkcra. My name is and welcome to the site. I've taken both the medications. Zoloft and seroquel. To be honest, this is the first time I've heard seroquel prescribed in such a low dose. Extremely low. I can't answer your question, but well, this site is a fine place to be, in regards for support, there is always someone on line, willing to lend an ear, offer advice, and often ask for it as well. Hopefully, the medications will work, Its a good combination the two of them. I understand the boost part,( seroquel) but not certain how much its going to help you, in your sleep needs. You might find that the seroquel will have to be increased to help you there. Well, best of wishes jkcra, hope you find yourseld feeling better soon.

Hey jkcra,
WELCOME!! Seroquel will definitely help with sleep and does help some with their depression. You are on a very low dose so don't be surprised if the doctor increases it. You should feel some relief within a couple of weeks with maximum benefit from the increase in Zoloft and addition of Seroquel in upwards of a month. So hang in there, it will get better.
Best wishes,
Laurie
Hi Laurie, thanks for responding so quickly. The doc did mention that they might increase the Seroquel to 25mg, so I guess we'll see. I've only been on it a few days.
Good luck jkcra and you are very welcoome!!

Hi,
I've not tried those drugs for my major depression, but am on others and have found that increasing my dose to higher (but safe) levels did in fact make a noticeable difference for my depression. It can sometimes take a few weeks to build up enough of a drug in your system for it to begin working effectively, so hang in there
Hi there ade1971. just noticed your post and would also like to welcome you to the site. Lots of very caring people, almost a family of sorts. We share tales, often a joke, and generally look out for one another. Through good times and the bad ones. (hence the family) Ha! So, nice to meet you, and hoping you find the site to be of help.the best to you.
Thanks for the info, Ade.

Hi- Last spring I had a melt down and had to take some time off from work too. It started with a month and ended up being 3 months. I am a much better employee b/c of it. I am taking 100 mg of Zoloft but have not tried the sequel. I am just starting a Cr of Ambien. IKeep us posted on how you are doing.
Sue, if you don't mind my asking, what did you do while you were off work? I'm having trouble keeping structure in my day and I know that's not a good thing. Also, what about the time off made you a better employee? I'm anxious to be able to go back to work, so your comment was really encouraging.
During my time off, I took lots of walks, went to yoga, took a meditation and photography class. I had no trouble staying busy. I am a teacher and either you are there or not. My principal is mad at me and making me work more but I am hanging in there wiht the help of the drugs. Enjoy your time off,
I know... I have to use a pill cutter on the tiny little 25mg tab.
Yes, I would talk to your doctor about this. You definitely need to be able to sleep, so if Xanax isn't working, definitely ask your doc for something else.
