Good morning,
I do not think this medication is addictive , you know what it is and probably have read plenty on the matter. We both know it is not a controlled substance and it is also used in MS.
I would not worry so much, now what happens to you when you miss a dose (apart from being in pain)? Do you become desperate, can not wait to take the pill, all this is from a psychological point of view.
I hope you have a great day.

Hey sweets,
The literature points out the following for baclofen:
1.Abrupt Drug Withdrawal: Hallucinations and seizures have occurred on abrupt withdrawal of Baclofen. Therefore, except for serious adverse reactions, the dose should be reduced slowly when the drug is discontinued.
So I would say that dependence is likely given the warning of withdrawal. Of course as long as you are taking as prescribed, I wouldn't worry about addiction. Just be cautious that you take as prescribed. Some people have to gradually increase their dosage to get continued relief with baclofen suggesting you can build a tolerance. Just follow the doctor's instructions.
Best wishes,
Laurie
TY LS!!
I would NEVER EVER take more than prescribed!!! Just not my thang!

addiction is possible with any drug psychologically but baclofen has caffiene in it and caffiene withdrawl is pretty bad aswe all know, causing headaches and such, but if it ishelping you with your fibro, by all means, use it, and you are very lucky that you found something that works for you, good luck
meyati, I thank you for your kind words and tis truly amazing what some docs will say!!!
sherri, I'd NO IDEA that baclofen had caffeine in it!!! WOW!!!

Sweet Lemon,
How has baclofen helped you? in what ways? I'm considering mentioning it to my sleep Dr. and asking him if it would be an option for RLS and PLM and muscle twitching/spasms. what concerns should i have? what were some beginning side effects? any complaints? do you think this may be helpful for me? what has been your experience? what are you taking it for? Thank you!
Hi HPoole,
I am so sorry that I'm late answering your Q's!! I don't know how I missed this, but here goes...
Yes, it helps so much with that weird twitching!! The side effect that I've had that is most annoying is that food has lost it's flavour! Hence, no appetite, and weight loss. Ugh.
I think it is a great med and would help with RLS!! Any type of fibro, MS, or muscle spasms are bound to get much better on Baclofen!! It really has been great, YET, please read LaurieShay's answer above!! There are some warnings with this med that I did not even read with the printout that came from my chemist. Duhhh, my bad!! But I recommend it!!!
If you want to talk about it further, please PQ me HP, again, so sorry for not answering your questions!!!

Dear Sweetlemon, you suffer from wisdom and compassion. I wouldn't worry about being addicted to anything more than caffiene. For years of and on, I took a non-addictive pain killer-like when I broke a nose or arm, got kicked pretty bad by a horse or cow, etc. Even long term to help kill my stomach pain-like for 2 years. Then the quacks decided that it was highly addictive, and I said, "What, you've got to kidding?" Like I'd take it for 18 months-then stop taking it- no nerves, no depression, eating- sleeping problems, no pain-whatever problems-Nothing-I just spent less time taking meds. Once, I was off that for 5 years, then i broke my arm-then I didn't use it until I broke my nose a few years later. It's off the market now. They added Tylenol to it-I'm allergic to Tylenol-so I took the pure thing and didn't have any problems. I think that Tylenol should be taken off the market.

Look at the liver damage-and I think that it changed how my pain killer worked. Now it's completely off the market. My point is that the AMA and FDA will protect you weither you need it or not.
