I have recently been prescribed seroquel,i had to go down to taking 150mg to start with,my physc wants me to up it to 300mg in 2weeks. He also lowered my xanax to 0.5mg twice daily from 1mg twice daily,he said by the end of the month he wants me off xanax completely as the seroquel will help the anxiety aswel as depression,but i'm worried as i am more anxious since starting seroquel and lowering the xanax,i feel i still need the xanax along with seroquel at the moment.Can anyone tell me will this change by time i reach 300mg,he said the seroquel would help me sleep which it did the first 2nights but not since.I still need the xanax during the day.
Any advice or comments please?

Hi, considering your medication changes recently, i'm not surprised that you are feeling very anxious. I'm still surprised that your doctor just stopped your prozac there and then, and the lowering of the xanax at the same time is going to be really tough. As a doctor, he/she will know that it takes time to get used to the seroquel and that it won't give you relief immediately. So to take away almost everything else like that seems crazy to me. I don't know if you want to change things again now at the stage you are at though? Try to stick out the seroquel and insist to your doctor that you need the xanax still. Tell him/her how anxious you are feeling and that taking away the xanax at this time is going to make you feel worse. You do have some say about your medication and your doctor should listen. Doctors are also human (although sometimes i wonder), so just try to appeal to their sympathetic side.

Hello puckiemull. good to see you again. Ha! Well, I think you will be fine. The 300mg is a powerfull/strong mood stabilizer. Don't know if you have noticed any change in your depression yet. By splitting the xanax to twice a day, is a sound judgement call by your dr. (did I say that properly?). As you know, xanax has a very short halflife, it works very quickly, but also leaves your body within a day or so. Once your seroquel is back up to 300mg, I think that you'll find yourself sleeping better. I was once on both these medications so I do know how they interact on our bodies. Mind you, not as yourself, in this combination. Theres a fresh pot of tea made, if you and Delila care for a cup and a pastry. I'll have my morning glory (coffee) :-0) best wishes puckiemull.

So you think i will be ok once i'm back to 300mg?I feel so confused at the mo,i dunno what way i am,i dont notice any major change in moods yet,i know its early days yet though and maybe i'm stressing too much over the xanax and worrying about coming off them bcoz i have been on them so long and i'm scared coz i'm off the prozac and now those that i was wondering was it all a bit too much of a change,so you dont think so?See?? There's my mind racing ahead with all kind of qs,thats happenin alot lately,my thinking is running away on me,i was always a worrier but past few days i am worse,especially night time.Maybe i'm just adjusting to the change in meds.
Anyway its night time here now,i dunno where you guys are with time right now,but i've fresh tea made for ya'll.

Hello pukiemull. Now I'm the late one. :-0) You are five hours ahead of where I live. Mind you years ago, I once lived across the North Sea, from you. I lived and worked in Holland. Also born there! Yup, has dual nationality, but I digress (typo). As yoiu said puckiemull you're stressed out worrying about what might happen. try not to allow it to get to you. I understand about the worries regarding the xanax. Remeber, I was also on xanax. My dose was extemely high, and in the end, was hopspitilized because of this having happened. Its a very long story/ more like an epic ha! and its an old one. Well, its Monday, a holiday here in America, Independence Day, I wonder from which country they sought thier independence from? Small jab at humor. Tea is on, crumpets and scones are the treats for this morning, almost tea time for you. Be well pukiemull, and relax, its going to be fine. I had been taking xanax at different doses for many years and it's very hard to change doses. I started Seroquel about a year and a half ago and started at 150 then went to 300mg. It made me a zombie during the day so my doc backed it off to the 150 again. He lets me take xanax as needed since he knows I don't abuse them. I never take more than 1mg at any time. My only issue with Seroquel is it took quite a while to feel better on it and after about 6 months, I gained 30 lbs in a few months. That has me wanting to change but also afraid at the same time. I don't want to lose any ground I have gained. Hope it helps you and feel better soon.

I'm been upped to 300mg tomorrow week,so far on the 150 i feel no difference,i felt very tired the first two days but i'm fine with that now,its just i still need to take the xanax and was worried coz they want me off it at the end of the month,said the seroquel will do the job that xanax does.

it nearly killed me; the seroquel, i even got 76 cents in a class action. i was on 300 then 600. i was a zombie nearly burned down the house trying to smoke a cig(quit those now). i gained 50-60 pounds and just laid in bed. didnt even play my video games. didnt answer the door or phone; took meds ate, slept. woke up and ate,slept, almost didnt make it. just my 2 cents but i thought they banned it after the suit. its like thorozine; but takes a few days to kick in. when it does you cant get right unless you stop them right away. wean down for a few days/ a week if youve started and tell the doctor you need your xanax. its the only med that works for me; and they have given me darn near every anti everything made.

i take 300mgs of seroquil before bed and 8 mgs of ativan during the day. I'm surprised the seroquil doesn't help you more with sleep. I've been taking it for 21/2 years and it always puts me to sleep within 30 minutes. Maybe 300 mgs will do the trick for you. Although I take the seroquil I could never give up my ativan, I don't think the seroquil is enough to combat the anxiety. At least not in my case. Good luck to you.

I have to up my dose to the 300mg in2weeks,so maybe it will start to help me sleep then,i just feel i need the xanax for the anxiety,unless my anxiety is just increasing from change in meds,did you have a problem getting the ativan along with seroquel?My physc does'nt like prescribing xanax at the best of times,so prob be harder along with the seroquel.
I'll have to see how it goes,

I was already on Ativan when I started the Seroquel. Have been on it for 5 years. He did cut it down from 8 to 4 mgs per day which really upset me. I also take 60 mgs of Adderall. He told me that if I would cut the Adderall to 30 mgs per days he would bring the Ativan back up to 6 mgs a day. Well, that was fine with me. I don't think the Adderall does much for me anyway. I think your doc would let you have Ativan. It's great for anxiety even at a much smaller dose. I have to take more because I have built up a tolerance to it. Good luck to you. I hope the 300 mgs of Seroquel helps you.

I agree,I'm sorry to hear your story with seroquel,I posted that q last year,but thankfully have being on and off seroquel since then. It was'nt a good med for me,it did nothing for my anxiety or sleep,so i finally came off. I am now just on xanax and I'm doing well. Not all meds work for everyone in the same way,but yet i know alot who have tried seroquel and are currently taking it and find it is a wonder med,but myself i have to disagree!!
