My mother's ophthalmologist put her on Valtrex indefinitely to suppress a possible shingles outbreak. She had a severe one 7 yrs ago that caused near blindness in one eye. She has had a cornea transplant 6 months ago and the doc says another shingles outbreak in the eye could cause her to lose the cornea. Valtrex forever? That worries me.
