No, you will still have the same amount of withdrawal, it won't lessen it if you switch to perc from subs. The brain receptor sites have to heal either way, and the longer you stay on any opiate or opiate replacement, the more time they need to heal. The fact that you switched to a shorter acting med will NOT make you have less withdrawal. If you will click on my avatar, and read my profile story, you will see how I got off subs without withdrawal. It can be done, you just have to do it slowly and steadily and ignore all those horror stories you read. It can be done. Patti

Hey peace-a-mind,
Why would you want to stop the suboxone which was for opiate detox only to take an opiate like percocet again? You can taper off the suboxone slowly and avoid any withdrawls. Since you are only taking 2 mg now, you could taper over several weeks time and be suboxone and opiate free.
As Pattishan61 mentioned, she describes her taper from Suboxone on her profile. Give it a read and good luck, you are almost home free.

Hi Laurie, First, Thank you so much for responding. About 5-6 years ago I started to take percocet as a feel good drug for me. (how stupid of me) I never took over 30 MG a day however I did it for a long time. And when I finally wanted to stop and get my life back of constantly thinking about the next time I should take the pill, I started taking suboxone. I have been taking the subs for a long period of time but never took over 6 mg a day. I have been taking no more than 4 mg for the last 4 months. For the last week I dropped to 2mg a day I feel no discomfort whatsoever. ( I hope this is a good sign ). I have a really good job and are around alot of people all day. Do you really think I can beat this thing and it not affect my job. I do have vacations but it seems like by reading all the post that I will need way more than a week... We need more people like you and patti that continues to support and help people... Thanks for responding
Yes, you can beat this thing. You can taper slowly over the next several weeks without much in the way of withdrawls and be opiate clean. I know you can do this and still work and such. You just have to taper slow. You are right when you say there is the psychological element to the addiction. Have you gotten addictions counseling along with the drug therapy?

Thank you for responding. My only question is... When I was hospitilized 2 years ago I was at 4 mg a day of subs for 8 months. I never told anyone and when I was in the hospital a week they gave me diluated. When I was released from the hospital I never went back to taking the subs and really didn't have any withdrawal symptoms, i couldn't understand that. Patti I have been reading the post and you really do give people hope that it can be done because all the other post seem to be horror stories... Half of my battle will be psychological when I finally beat this nasting thing. Thank you so much for responding.
