When are the major side effects of Zyprexa likely to occur?

I have been on Zyprexa for a while. There is always a chance for getting side effects. I was on zyprexa for 2 years had to stop because of weight gain, however I am back on it again it is a good medicine but there is always a risk for side effects. Some side effects are more dangerous then others.

I took zyprexa for over 6 years, the initial dose was 20mg, I did not suffer from any of the side effects... luckily!

It does cause high blood sugar, which is a serious side effect which must be reported to your Doctor ASAP.

This is one the many reasons zyprexa should be monitored closely, and of course regular blood test to check sugar levels. And in some cases if the HBS ( high blood sugar) is to high it can lead to coma, or death.

This is in an article I read somtime ago.

The drug can be helpful to prevent suicides, though it has been observed that the use of zyprexa will sometimes instead trigger suicidal thoughts.

If it has been a whole year and all he has is dry mouth then he is over a major hurdle.

I get tested for Diabetes with 2hourGTT AND A1C test every year.

I gained an extreme amount of weight but have seriously changed my eating habits and am now working on exercise habits.

I get a FULL blood workup every year as part of annual physical.

it is called a CBC with SMACK

It is important to check liver function, kidney function, HDL and LDL cholesterol, as well as an EKG and basically everything in a general physical.

if you cannot afford a general doctor then ask his psychiatrist to prescribe it for him...
