At present, my dad takes aspirin. He has been using Plavix for 2-3 years but it no longer thins his blood. His doctor recommended that we try finding Effient (Prasugrel) from abroad or online, but we can't find this drug and the pharmacists have not heard of it.

Effient is available via a doctors prescription in America.
The FDA recommends against the purchase of prescription medications online. Some web sites sell prescription and over-the-counter drugs that may not be safe to use and could put people's health at risk and these should be treated with caution.
