weight loss from not being able to eat. Well, my doc believes it's Gallstones. On the 10th I go I go in for an Upper GI/ultrasound and from there surgery to remove my Gallbladder. I won't be here very often until then, but wanted to let those who know me that I love each and every one of you. I am proud to be a member of this wonderful site, which has led me to some of the best people on this planet. I guess I'll be joining Chris in the surgery game, eh.
If anyone has had this procedure or Gallstones in general, please say a few words of advice. I'll take as much as I can get.
Thanks everyone for being such a support here.
All the best,
Dave

Hi Cowboy!!
One thing, if you don't start to eat lean stuff, you may lose your skinny jeans in public, and show all your underoo's!!! So, be careful what you ingest buddy. No fats, but I know you eat very healthy anyway. If you eat fatty stuff you will want to hurl my friend! Ewwwww, I know, but true.
Keep us informed Springer!!
Love,
Lara
I've already lost my skinny jeans in public, well almost. My shorts were another story-down they went walking the dog. ;-)
Am eating a steak to try to keep the weight on. Last night was hard with not wanting to eat.
Love ya Lala,
Dave

I have had this procedure done with laproscopy surgery. It's normally fairly simple, & you go home te same day. I had complications so was hospitalized for weeks & was to found to have a common bile duct probem. It took 7 years of unnecessary pain for my problem to be fixed, I lost so much weight I was just sticks & stones. I was finally diagnosed with a spastic common bile duct problem that wouldn't allow the bile to flow to the intestine. I believe this was my problem all along as removal of the gallbladder did not help me, but seemed to increase my pain level. You should have a Hydra Scan to be certain this is the case, It's a neuclear medicine test. They inject dye in your vein & scan your gallblader. Usually if it re-creates your pain it's positive, but it also shows if your gallbladder is funtioning properly, & the percentage of bile output. A sonogram will only show if you have stones in the bile duct or gallbladder.
Mary, you're so hilarious! I love reading your comments, and they are very helpful as well. Thanks for the tip on the Hydra Scan. I'll bring it up. Everyone holding their side has this problem-how general indeed. That doctor should have his balls in a vise, then tell him it's a testicular disease and it needs to come out.
My side does hurt pretty badly, as I don't have to palpate to feel the pain. I was given Proton Pump Inhibitors for the stomach pain/burning, which has allowed me to eat a bit better. I haven't really had any vomiting, but nausea is present all the time. Then again, as sweetlemon said, I eat a lean diet full of protein, complex carbs, and high fiber. I ate pizza and cheesecake two days ago and felt like I was going to die.
Anyway, thanks so much for your time and concern, Mary.
Your friend,
Dave
Dave, you are so welcome... Mary

Hey Springer,
I had my gallbladder removed several years ago and it wasn't bad at all. The diagnosis was made from blood work and an ultrasound such as what you are having. I had an excellent surgeon and the laproscopy type surgery was successful. Three little incision, maybe it was four (they are so tiny I can't even see them now), and very little pain afterward. I rested for a few days afterward and have been fine ever since. I never had to change my diet or anything like that. I don't miss the ole gall bladder at all, lol.
Best wishes and relax, keep us posted,
Laurie
Thanks ever so much, LaurieShay, for making me feel better about the surgery. My mom had hers removed 12 yrs ago, and it left a fairly large scar. Back then it was a full incision. Glad that you haven't had problems with changing your diet. You don't miss it, eh :-)

Hi there, buddy! I haven't been here for several weeks myself. All I can say is I wish you the very best. I couldn't NOT respond to your post. You've been a dear friend to me through these tough times. On top of it all, self pity and depression has set in big time. You, sweetlemon, Patti, and all my good friends who I've neglected without a valid reason, all I can ask is for your understanding and once I get past this surgery(s) I'll try to get back in full force.
I wish you the very best! Please keep in touch and I pray all works out best for you.
All my love,
Chris
Hey Chrissy, I am so glad to see you. I have stuff going on too. I want you and Dave to know I am Praying very hard for you. Dave, I have had horrible GERD, have no idea if it is sub related. Hope yours isn't related to it. If you are on the films, get off and go back to the pills, just in case the films might be aggravating or causing your issues. Be well my friends, I pray for your comfort and wellness. Patti
Hi there, Patti! No, not on subs. I still have the BIG surgery coming up this Monday. Maybe sometime down the road the subs may be a good alternative for me. For now, plain old pain med will have to suffice.
Hope all is getting better for you and you're feeling better. Keep up the great work and please keep in touch.
Chris
Me too, Von! I thank you for the info and warm wishes. I am honored to be your friend, Vonnie.

Hi Dave! Nice to meet you. I'm so sorry for your pain. I had my gall bladder removed in Jan. 1975 when they didn't use sonograms or laprascopy methods. You'll be in & out on the 10th & afterward have a short healing period. Soon you'll be your "old self" again! Dave, that's so great that you're looking into your pain & being proactive! Kudos! :)
Without surgery your pain wouldn't go away or even dissipate; it would only get worse & then for longer periods of time. This surgery is the way to go if you have gallstones or gall bladder disease.
Generally, this procedure is very, very common nowadays & not even overly invasive. When I had mine done in '75 the hospital stay was 10 days! Ouch! Dave, things have certainly changed for the better & this operation will help change you back to being & feeling better. :)
Good luck! Be positive! You've made the best decision for your health.
Take good care, Dave. You're in my prayers. from Wendy :)
Wendy,
Your username and avatar make me smile EVERY time I see you!
sweetlemon
Love, love, love your username and avatar!!! It definitely put a smile on my face too. I am beginning to see where this started. My gastrointestinal tract has been in a state of flux for the last few years, yet has gotten much worse. That was when I got scared that something was wrong, and could no longer keep my head in the sand.
Gosh, 10 days for you! That must have been nightmarish, to say the least. It is a wonder how much things have improved over the intervening years.
Thanks again for making my day, LiverLips. Ah, makes me chuckle to say it out loud. :-)

Springer, so sorry about pain and possibly surgery. If you are on subs film, please at least consider switching back to subutex pills, films cause some weird symptoms in some people. Best of luck, hope we can talk soon, do NOT miss season finale of StarGate Universe, it will be on Monday at 8, with Sanctuary following. I have another show I bet you will like, "Justified," comes on FX at 9 central on wednesday. But get well my friend, I am Praying for ya. Patti
I know, Patti, I can't wait for those finales. I'll DVR them for sure. I left a comment to you in Chris's response. The films weren't covered on my insurance, so I had to jump through hoops to get the doc to switch them. He wanted to see me again at $300 a visit-I said, "Hell, No!"
Anyway, thanks Patti for your friendship and support. How is the salon these days? Have you gone to Bham yet to see the devastation? All I want to do is volunteer, alas, my health won't permit that-too weak.
Love ya,
Dave
Dave, I am such a dummy when I am excited. "Justified," just did their finale, but you may be able to find it online or on reruns. It is fabulous, you will love it. I hate you feel so bad. God, I truly do. Have not been to B'ham, just watching the destruction is horrible. I have been thru several huge hurricanes, Camille, Fredrick, Ivan, Katrina, and countless small ones, this destruction looks so much worse and the same with Japan. I just can't believe it. At least you know when a hurricane is coming. I shudder to think what else could happen to those people. Looters, scam artists, trouble with insurance, not being covered, as well as PTSD. Makes my little troubles all seem so insignificant. I too have stomach pain and GERD but I know I will get thru it. I swear those films sound bad compared to the pills, just from what I have read here, Go to suboxone.com and try to find another doctor, or it may even be worth it to drive to Foley and see my old one.
All right, my buddy is here for me yet again! You saved my life basically when I first signed up here. You were the first one to respond with your own situation. I am forever your fan, man. Thanks for all you do, A! You, sweetlemon, Christine, Pattishan, and even good ol Saco were among my first encounters here and helped bring me back to the man I am today. That is why I love DC s much, and all the wonderful people since. Sorry, I am just a sentimental fool :-)
Dave
I will always help you buddy ... no matter what!!! hey be sentimental... flow Dave, never hold back... no matter what anybody else says or thinks , always be yourself and walk proud with your head help up high.-
Your friend,
Andres.-

Dave
Thanks Dave. Hope you get better soon! Smileyhappy. (Lynne)

Dave, I wish you smooth sailing, and if I have any recccommendations it is to try to stop smoking a week before surgery (if you smoke), coz when you have those fresh stitches in ya - the slightest cough is a pain no pain med can overcome.
All the best, Peg
