The article also says, "Kornel said that the review showed that there is definitely some benefit from Botox for those with chronic migraine and chronic daily headache." The study compares relief from Botox vs. various daily preventative medications. For those of us who cannot tolerate or benefit from these medications, it provides tremendous relief that we can't get otherwise. This is something that your short review of the study does NOT discuss.
In my case, Botox has kept me from getting severe 24/7 migraines constantly. Now I get the severe migraines when the Botox wears off.
So the blanket statement that Botox shows little relief for migraines is misleading to say the least.

Migraines are one of those phenomena that puzzle the medical community. Here's the key; once you find something that works, stick with it. Thing is, as is with my wife no one thing works every time, she rotates with 4 different things. I am happy you have found something that works for you.

Hi Sara, Thanks for the information. Next month I am going to try Botox for my chronic migraines for the first time, everything else we have tried doesn't give me much time without the migraine. So I keep hearing that for some it works really well, so I plan to give it a try and I just hope I am one of the lucky ones that it makes a difference to. Take care Sara, Liz.

Absolutely agree!! I paid for Botox injections in my face years ago when they were first finding this out. I couldn't believe that I didn't have a migraine for three blessed months!!! Now that insurance pays for it, I have found a mild triptan that I can take instead of the Botox, so I haven't gone for the injections, but heck, they work!! Go for it, if your insurance pays, and keep some triptans around for when it wears off!! Best of luck!
