Hello,
HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention.
HCTZ treats fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, or kidney disorders, or edema caused by taking steroids or estrogen. HCTZ is also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It may be used alone or with other medicines.

Maso is right it is a blood pressure pill and a diuretic not a sleeping pill . Hope you haven't used this as a sleeping pill because it could actually work the opposite and keep you up all night due to the diuretic effect it has I know I am on it.
