Since I started levimir, I have noticed swelling especially in my ankles.
Has levemir been known to cause swelling in the hands or ankles?

Adverse/Side Effects of Levemir (not levimir) are as follows: Endo: hypoglycemia Local: lipodystrophy, pruritis, erythema, swelling: Misc: allergic reactions including Anaphylaxis. Swelling is included in the side effects of Levemir. Erythema is defined as redness in the area. Good luck! Sandy

I have a cousin who was also related to the last Qua-pa Indian Chief and Shaman. Every summer he spent time with his grandfather in central Arkansas and Chief Saracen would have him help gather herbs and plants for medicine. One of the most collected was milk thistle which was used to reduce swelling. Mu cousan said it was used for ankle swelling. To make a long story short my family started using it for that purpose. I purchase 450 mg capsules at the drug store and it works great. If I stop my left ankle will double in size relative to my right one. I would try one capsule daily and if needed add another, I have never heard of any other thing which works better and if you ask your doctor he most likely has never heard of the use. Try it you will like it.
