My doctor started me on Estrace vaginal cream about 7 weeks ago for severe vaginal itching, I have not had any relief yet! Does anyone know how long it takes before it starts helping? My gyno. says it should take about 6 to 8 weeks before I see any relief. Has anyone used Estrace for vaginal itching and has it helped? How long did it take before the itching went away? I can't take this itching any longer, it's driving me crazy!!! I have tried Monistat topical cream in hopes for some relief but so far no help with that. I've even soaked in salt water(I read that might help with itching) but no help with that either! I appreciate any help you can share. Thank you.

I have had the same problem, but he gave me some yeast med I had never heard of and it did work. He said he might have to do a biopsy to see if I needed a different hormone cream. I wish I could remember the name of the cream he gave me. He didn't think it was going to work, but it did. You can try some hydrocortisone cream, vagisil, and some antihistamine for help. Ask him if he thinks you need a skin biopsy on the outside.

Thank you for responding so quickly. I will called my doctor and ask if she can prescribe a yeast infection cream and suggest a biopsy as well. I know there is a pill called Diflucan that they can prescribe for yeast infections, maybe it comes in a cream form too. Thanks again for the help.
Hi, yes i had the itching too. would wake me up at night and i seemed a little dryer than normal too. In my 40's... no infections. The estrace /estradiol vaginal cream did finally work for the itchiness but took weeks. Used vagisil too. My problem is it would wake me up at night and I had insomnia. For this Dr gave me Celexa and that was ultimately what gave me the peace of mind not to stress so much about the annoying itchiness. Be careful with estrace and use sparingly. I however believe now that it's the culprit in my allergy (anaphylaxis) and my ER visit today. that is why I am now on the web reading up on it. Vagisil also has a vitamin e lubricant that is very soothing and no meds (like estrace) or estrogen side effects to worry about. Use vagisil regularly and trying swithing to a feminine wash instead of regular soap. I did finally get relief, so will you :) Good luck
