I got my rx filled and there were two different pills. I take 30mgs I was told by the pharmacy that I got pills from two different manufacturers, they are large pills and then I also got the small ones. Anyway I noticed a difference in pain relief and side effects. I think they are using a similiar formula perdue used in the new oxycontin. I am having difficulty thinking I am not getting any pain relief I cannot even continue to give more detail right now due to the pain. Anyone have any input.
Has anyone noticed a change in ms contin?

update, I saw my doctor today and told him I do not want to take anymore morphine. I told him it makes me feel awful , actually I said it bums me out.
he is great I can talk to him freely. I am trying lyrica and the oxir's. I pray that this will be the answer to my prayers. I am only 49 and I want my life back, at leat some of it. I could never work again but I would like a bit of a social life. I guess I will be going to the Lyrica support group. Good luck to all of you who suffer from pain, thanks for your help

ksrock2, im on percocet 10/325 for pain management, and actually in a taper process to once and for all get off the pain medication. but i do realize that at times when i pick up my prescription, its almost as if its nothing but a sugar pill. i wonder sometimes also about manufactur malfunctions. some i heard the correct mg of medication is actually not administered in the pills like it suppose to. id try and call the pharmacy and talk to them or talk to your dr. but i just wanna say, if you ever plan to get off opiates, its pure hell, so you may want to try and cut back. hope i could help some

I was on MsContin a year ago and I thought so since then. I often didn't get the pain relief I expected. I even tried chewing a pill up a few times. It didn't change how it effected me. So either I'm weird or they found a way to make it time released no matter what. IMHO

I take oxycodone, & yes to answer your question, I firmly believe different brands make a difference. I always end up with the ones from Qualitest, & ended up adding tylenol for them to kick in for the pain. Then last time I had mine filled the same thing happened to me. I thought uh oh! I waited til the end of the month to take the different one made by Mallinkrodt, but found out they worked better than the Qualitest brand. Now I ask for it, but no one can seem to get it for me.Also found out a long time ago that CVS is about the only store that will order or try to the brand of what works best for you. Guess they are just not Big Box enough yet like Walgreens is. I felt bad because when my pharmatist ordered a specific brand & they didn't have it they didn't send him any oxycodone at all! So I may have messed it up for others. He is trying to order two brands now. Just my thoughts... Mary632009
My CVS pharmacist said that there was a shortage at the factory on the Mallinkrodt and the Qualitest (Mallinkrodt have an M in a box and the Qualitest have a V on one side, right?) The ones I've been getting are from Actavis. I've had to run around to several different pharmacies the past few months. Last time I talked to her at the end of last week they told me that the shortage seems to be over and that they are now getting them but it is not the same brand as before (which was Qualitest, I think) The Actavis seem ok-they give me a bit of a headache more though, I think)
Yes, the Qualitest have a V on one side and are a little darker green.

Thank you for taking the time to answer, I do know that different generics mean different amount of pain relief and side effects. The fillers used make all the difference. I know that brand name prevacid works better than generic it is not in my head, just an example. As far as getting off opiates not an option ever. The pain I have will never go away after six surgeries I am stuck in this hell. I would if I could but my pain travels from my pelvis, belly and ribs all on the left side. I need to breath and when the pain is out of control I cannot bear to even take a deep breath. My doctors told me it would not be possible for me to withstand the pain without medication. I did not believe it and tapered off opaites to only three 10mgs oxy ir that was not a good idea my doctor was upset and told me to take my meds, he always uses insulin as an example if I needed that I would take it.
