I recently started on Loestrin 24 Fe (on second month) and have noticed that during the end of the 1st week & into the beginning of the 3rd week I have more frequent heartburn than normal. I was on Ortho-tricycline for a long time and experienced frequent and severe heartburn, but as soon as I switched BC pills it went away. I had not had it as frequently as I have recently and my diet has not changed significantly in the past 2 months. I have noticed few other side effects, mostly consitpation and a bit of nausea, which I can deal with much better than I can heartburn.
Has anyone experienced frequent heartburn or indigestion on Loestrin 24 Fe?

I have had severe heart burn since starting on loestrin 24! It is worse than when I was pregnant and I seem to get no relief with anti-acids.

I have had the exact same heartburn issues with Loestrin 24 FE. I took Yaz for 2 years, but my new doctor suggested I try Loestrin 24 FE for a couple different reasons. I was reluctant, because I have fibromyalgia which causes a hyper-sensitivity to drugs... but I relented. Now I am KICKING myself!! With the Loestrin I am very nervous, moody, had acne break-outs and have had non-stop heartburn and acid-reflux for weeks... despite the fact that I am already taking Prilosec. I have a history of acid reflux, but as long as I take my Prilosec every night, I have very few problems... maybe flare ups 2-3 times a year. But with the Loestrin it has been constant, for weeks. Hope you were able to resolve your problems!!! As for me, I am going back to Yaz. =)

Thanks nell-grace, for responding! I'm not prone to heartburn normally, so when I started to notice it after just a few days of being on this Pill, I thought it could be causing it. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I even called my doctor's office to see if any other women had complained about it & they thought I was a NUT! I have gotten the exact same side effects as you, I'm super moody, cry at the drop of a hat, I've gained more weight in the last 3 months than I EVER have, the heartburn and the acne. I go back for my yearly next month, I'm either going to go back to my Cyclessa or try IUD, I can't decide which. My doctor put me on the Loestrin because he thinks my migraines are because of estrigen withdrawl... but I'd almost rather have headaches than all this other crap!

Oh and I can't stop stuffing my face! I never used to eat like this, even growing up, so I know something in this pill is increasing my appetite un-naturally hence the weight gain...

If it helps I decided to quit taking the Loestrin 24 FE. I quit taking it Thursday, and Friday morning was the 1st time I woke up without heartburn in over a month. It has only been 3 days off Loestrin and I am already completely different already: heartburn/acid reflux free, no longer nervous and jumpy, and I am not constantly craving different foods... mainly sweets! I am sure my doctor will have something to say about me quitting a BC pill mid cycle, but I would much rather have 'girl issues' than that terrible heartburn and acid reflux. For me it was getting so bad I actually vomited a couple times.

It's unfortunate that no one who has used Loestrin 24 Fe has replied. Although it is not a noted side effect of Loestrin, it is quite possible that Loestrin 24 Fe caused the heartburn symptoms.

I agree! Thank you for the link, I had already checked out the noted side-effects and I didn't see the heartburn as one so that made me curious. As I noted above, I had this same side-effect with another oral contraception, so thought maybe this could be contributing. I'm now in the 3rd month, towards the end of the first week of that pill pack & I am noticing the heartburn is happening less than the month before, but I still get it. I'm hoping that as my body adjusts to the medication this goes away.
