Saturday morning I got out of bed, took my 24hr. Lantus Solostar injection (39 units), I noticed a little blood came out of the needle when I pulled it out (this happened once before but quite a while ago when I was taking only 16 units daily), I then walked out of our bathroom (where I keep my insulin pens) straight to the kitchen, checked my glucose (was at 98), made a cup of coffee, sat down to drink it and within 5mins. went into a seizure (according to my wife, because at this point in time I didn't have a clue as I was unconscience), when I started to wake up about 15-20 mins later I was already on an IV glucose drip that the EMS had administered while I was out. When they got there (about 10 mins after my daughter call 911 and my wife had administered Glucose gel to my gums) they said they had a reading of 32. The shot I took was in my belly fat that morning, my doctor said he had never heard of anyone shooting into a blood vessel in the stomach and that it was highly unlikely that happened but did not have a better explanation. I am confused as to what other possibility there would be but have decided to cut my dose in half and take two of these long acting injections a day to reduce the possibility of coma or even death if that is what indeed happened. Anyone else ever have this happen? If so any idea's?
