I have never heard of this medication. What is your migraine history? How many a month do you have and what have the doctors tried so far?
I suffer from terrible migraines as well and was just started on Gagapentine 300mg as a preventative. I can't speak for it yet as I have not been taking it long enough to make a decision. I hope your new medication helps you.
Migraine is the most debilitating disease, it affects how we think and our capcity to think... ugh. Praying for you! Kasey

I am so sorry to hear that you are suffering this way. I have had 4 neuro surgeries, two to numb the cervical facets in the neck, two to actually kill off the ganglion nerve at C-2, occipital lobe injections and multitudes of different migraine abortive meds and pain meds, every one of these failed. In 2010 I had 145 severe migraines, the kind that completely disable my ability to function. They have increased in number each year regardless of what has been done medically. So far in 5 months I have had 58 of them.
The migraine abortive med I use is Axert 12.5mg, sometimes it works, sometimes not. When that happens I try 2mg of Xanax to just put myself down for about 10 hours. If I wake up and it's still there, I use Stadol Nasal Spray 10mg for pain and phenergren for nausea. I clock in anywhere from 12 - 17 migraines in a month.

The Gabapentin is a seizure medication. I do not have seizures, however the Neurologist states that this medication can sometime "prevent" migraines from coming. For some people it works, for others it doesn't. I am trying it and hoping it will help.
Now here in the sad part, when I lived in Florida i got maybe 4 a month, I moved to Kentucky and they tripled. We went to Florida the end of April for 15 days, only 3 migraines, then back to Kentucky and I had 9 migraines in that next 15 days.
If this med doesn't work I am moving back to Florida, which will be hard because I will have to leave my husband in Kentucky until he gets Ordained and can transfer to Florida, he is a pastor.
The other thing I think about is climate change and altitude that might be causing this, however the Neurologist would not even listen to me about that except to tell me to move back to Florida. Seems like a drug company could do some research and figure this out and how to treat it.
Still praying for you!

I have a migraine everyday.
I thought reboubd could be part of problem, but when I get off I still have the migraine.
So who's to say.
I have been on many seizure meds & felt like I was losing my mind.
Pain Mag. is going to ( in laymans terms ) burn the nerves in my ceveral area to help my body think there is no pain.

I have the info some where, but it's late now & don't want to wake house looking for it.

Burning the nerves in the cervical area is called an Oblation. That's done at C-2 where they basically fry the ganglion nerves, trying to kill off the pain trigger. I hope it works for you. My pain Management doctor said sometimes it works, it didn't work for me at all, in fact made things much worse... BUT that doesn't have to be the case for you!
I am having a CT Scan (again) of my brain on Tuesday, had an MRI and an MRA a year ago. These test really do not show anything for migrainers to my knowledge. How can a person be in excrutiating pain and have a test come back "normal" or "no significant" findings? Praying for you, let me know how it goes when you get the oblation done. Kasey
Wow sorry to hear that it did not work, but I have no choice , but to try it.
I had every brain scan done also.

I was prescribed amlodipine (Norvasc) for borderline High Blood Pressure (140/90). It just so happened I'd been suffering from migraines for 25 yrs. I typically would have 5 migraines/week, two excedrin took care of 3/week, but needed Imitrex 2 times/week when excedrin wasn't enough. Once I went on the 5 mg of amlodipine (and started with 250mg/day Chelated magnesium supplement), my migraines decreased tenfold! It was miraculous! Now I need Imitrex only about once/month, and just one excedrin once/week.
