Hey Y'all... My dr just gave me samples of Latuda 40mg and I really want to take it but I am afraid. Is it safe to break it in half? I currently take Lamotrigime, citalopram, foculin xr (it's for a.d.d.) and bistolic for blood pressure. I would really welcome some advice especially from those of you that take other meds with the Latuda. Also, why do you have to eat so many calories with it? Thanks so much

Hi Donna! Thank you for responding. If you don't mind my asking, how is the medicine working for you? How long have you been taking it? Have a wonderful day, Dawn
I started taking it mid-November because I had been having problems on Saphris, another antipsychotic. I do have some of the same side effects with Latuda, only not quite as bad: anxiety, agitation, insomnia, some cognitive problems like confusion and inability to follow a conversation. But I have tried Lithium, Risperdal, Trilafon, Zyprexa, Seroquel, Abilify, Geodon, Saphris and Latuda. From my experience Trilafon was the worst and Latuda is the best. Saphris practically erased my social paranoia (how wonderful) and Latuda has continued to help me socialize.

But still I am starting to have some doubts as to whether Latuda is right for me. Part of the problem being that I want a miracle, I guess. None of the meds are or will be perfect. The insomnia and anxiety are just about to do me in. If I go back to something I have already tried, it will unfortunately be Zyprexa. I gained 93 lbs on Zyprexa and was so constantly sleepy that I described myself as a "fat zombie." Latuda has not helped me lose any weight, which was one of my goals in switching meds. I am also beginning to have memory problems -- forgetting which direction my kitchen is, that kind of thing. Kind of scary.
Best wishes to you! I hope it does exactly what you want it to do.
Thank you for generously sharing your experiences with me and I pray that you will be blessed with peace, calm and many things to make you smile! Dawn
How long did it take for you to notice that Latuda was working for you? I just started it and haven't noticed any improvement at all. I am weaning off risperdal, which has caused me major weight gain (as did zyprexa which worked really well for me!) I've heard people say the Latuda worked for them the same way Zyprexa did only without the weight gain. Yea! I am hoping for a miracle too. I just hope we all find our little miracle so we don't have to deal with trading one problem (voices) for another (weight gain/diabetes). It seems to me like the drug companies ought to be able to fix that somehow, right?
lol. silly people.

I say prayers for all who suffer from psychosis and that includes you all here. I know of an 80 year old lady who won't take medication who suffers greatly from voices who tease her and harm her so if anyone prays please keep her in your prayers. This lady does not deserve this kind of treatment. My mother's delusions were funny and made her laugh. This poor woman is being tormented in her dementia and I feel so bad for her.
Take care everyone.

I will remember you and that poor little lady in my prayers. I am saddened by the lack of understanding of some folks and I am very thankful for those that do understand and are supportive. In my opinion, that's what we are here for to lend a hand or an ear whenever possible. Thank you for responding.
I to am getting ready to start Latuda. I take several medications and we always do a drug interaction test when we add meds. Also another good source for information is your pharmacist. I took saphris for 1 week and it made me so drowsy i couldnt effectively do my job. From what I have read you have to eat with it due to the way it is absorbed in the body. I hope you are able to get the information you need and are able to feel better, I can totally feel your pain.
