I have been put on this drug to shock my system.
Is it normal to be put on this at 90 milligrams a day?
I am experiencing hair loss and my gums ache. I have only been on this for two weeks. I stopped taking this drug without telling my doctor.
I hope you can give me some insight on this.

Are u suffering from Graves Disease??? I am and was on it for about 4 weeks before i stopped taking it. i lost a lot of hair, insomnia, vivid dreams and night sweats on the meds. Methimazole is an Anti Thyroid Drug (ATD) there are others out there but the side effects are the same with a few other things thrown in. Consult your doctor about what you are feeling and get more info about other forms of treatment.

90 does sound like a lot. Although, when I started taking methimazole I had several symptoms including and not limited to: hair loss, heart palpatations, nightmares, menstraul irregularity, joint aches, migranes. ect ect.... But after my 3rd week of taking the medication the only side effect that remains is the heart palpatations and it seems much more easy to deal with. In fact I'm starting to feel the benefits of the medicine now. Hang in there!
